It's looking and feeling like summertime in Breck and we can't wait to welcome you back to the mountain this weekend with the return of Epic Discovery summer operations and the re-opening of the BreckConnect Gondola.
Starting Friday and running daily through Labor Day (Sept. 5, 2022), Breck's Epic Discovery is open from 10 AM to 5 PM with the BreckConnect Gondola running from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM for free scenic access between the Town of Breckenridge and Peak 8 at the resort.
For opening weekend, we are excited to offer a variety of scenic, family-friendly and thrill-seeking outdoor activities, including activities at Peak 8 Base Camp and at Alpine Camp, accessed by a scenic ride on the Colorado SuperChair.
Opening Weekend Activities at Peak 8 Base Camp:

- Mini Golf
- Gemstone Panning
- Scenic Rides on the Colorado SuperChair (up to Alpine Camp)

Additional Activity Openings and Trail Updates
With on-going preparations for summer, and while awaiting trails to dry, more activities are anticipated to open soon, including the Alpineer Challenge Course, Gold Summit Climbing Wall and Bungee Trampolines, as well as bike trails and bike hauls on the Colorado SuperChair.
Here at Breck, we flip from winter to summer operations in a matter of just a few weeks and depending on the winter snowpack and spring snowstorms, it can take a little longer to access certain areas of the mountain and get them ready to open in summer. To help preserve mountain terrain and the condition of trails all season long, it’s important to wait until the snow melts and the ground dries. Trails will open as soon as they’re ready, and you can find updated information on the summer terrain and lift status page of our website.
Pardon our Construction – Rip’s Ride Chairlift Upgrade
This summer we are working to replace and upgrade the Rip’s Ride chairlift on Peak 8 to a high-speed quad for the upcoming 2022/23 winter season. With a short construction season in the mountains, work begins as soon as the lift closes for winter and continues into fall. Due to this construction, there will be some impacts to summer activities, particularly our Kids Base Camp area. Most notably, the Lil Climber Challenge Course will move closer to the base of Peak 8 and the Colorado SuperChair. In addition, due to construction we will not operate our kids summer tubing activity, kids zipline or the Breck Flyer Zipline.
Ride the FREE BreckConnect Gondola
The BreckConnect Gondola operates daily for summer from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, providing free transportation between the Town of Breckenridge and the ski resort’s Peak 8 base area. Hop aboard a gondola cabin to enjoy a free scenic ride, and use this as your primary transportation to and from summer adventures and activities at Breck’s Epic Discovery.
Epic Discovery On-Mountain Activities
The hub of on-mountain Epic Discovery activities at Breck is at Peak 8, starting with Base Camp and then riding the Colorado SuperChair all the way up to Alpine Camp. The most popular summer activities are our Alpine Slides and Gold Runner Coaster (Pro Tip: Arrive early and hit these fan favorites first thing to best avoid any lines). But you’ll also find a variety of scenic, family-friendly and thrilling activities throughout Epic Discovery.
