Breck Summer Camp

Letting kids explore the best of Colorado's mountains.

Drop the kids off for a half-day or full-day of adventures at Breckenridge Ski Resort June 12 - August 18, 2017. They'll gain valuable outdoor skills while participating in activities centered around science, nature, crafts, imagination and more! Monday - Friday, ages 5-13 welcome!

The day camp features a curriculum that focuses on science, nature, crafts and more, while teaching kids valuable outdoor skills. Full-day sessions include lunch, and camp is run by CPR and first aid-certified counselors with a 1 to 10 ratio of counselors to campers. This camp is an official Colorado licensed camp facility.

All camp operations take place at the Kids Castle on Peak 8. Breck Summer Day Camp run June 12 - August 18, 2017.


WHAT TO BRING

Campers will spend a good deal of time outdoors and as Colorado's weather is particularly hard to predict, we ask each camper bring a backpack with the following:

Hat
Sunglasses
Sturdy hiking shoes
Water bottle
Sunscreen
Waterproof rain jacket
Extra change of clothes

LUNCH & SNACKS

Full day camp reservation includes lunch and two snacks. AM and PM reservations include one snack. You can add lunch to an AM or PM reservation for an additional $10. We are a nut-free facility, please let us know if your child has any food allergies prior to your arrival. If your child has a specific dietary need please pack a lunch and snack.

Cancellation
We hope you are able to join us for camp! If you are not able to, please keep the following in mind:
  • We like for all full day and AM campers to arrive at 8am so we can begin the morning activities. We like for all PM campers to arrive at 1pm so we can begin the afternoon activities.
  • Reservations are charged at 8:00 AM, 24 hours prior to each day of your child's camp reservation.
  • Reservations may be cancelled before 8:00 AM, 24 hours prior to each day of your child's camp reservation. Cancelling within 24 hours prior to each day of your child's camp reservation will result in a full day charge with no refund.
  • Camp will not be cancelled due to weather

Snow In Summer

June 12th - June 16th 
 Is that snow I see? Exploring weather in the high country. Campers will explore the reaming snow on the mountain, see the water cycle in action, and gain an understanding of weather patterns.

Utes, Arapaho, Comanche, Miners and Skiers?

June 19th - June 23rd 
Since 1500, Native Americans have inhabited the plains and mountains of Colorado. Almost 20 tribes have called Colorado home at one point or another. In the summer of 1895 gold was found in what would become Breckenridge. December 16, 1961 The Breckenridge Ski Area officially opens. We will be focusing on Colorado history and heritage.

Light My Fire & Leave No Trace

June 26th - June 30th
Two of the most important factors in the wilderness are food and fire. This week we will discuss some of the best foods to take into the wilderness, ways to cook the food, and best practices for what to do when you’re done eating. Highlights Include: Trail Mix, Solar Ovens, and Bear bags.

This Land is Your Land, This Land is My Land

July 3rd - July 4th
Imagine the world 10 years from now. 50 years. 100 years. What does our natural resource supply look like? In this camp we will focus on sustainability, and making sure that future generations will have water, materials, and resources.

Golddiggers

July 10th - July 14th
Eureka! There’s gold in them there mountains! We will learn about Colorado Mining History through activities and games. Good Luck!

We Will Rock You

July 17th - July 21st
Science ROCKS! Literally. From the low-lying eastern plains, to the central peaks soaring more than 14,000 feet above sea level, to the western red-rock canyons, this week we will delve into the unique geologic history of Colorful Colorado. This week will ROCK your world.

Lost

July 24th - July 28th
Shipwrecked on a desert island? Plane crashed on a mountainside? Stranded in the backcountry? Together, we will learn wilderness survival skills and emergency preparedness for the worst possible scenarios. Campers will discover compasses, make maps, and search for buried treasure.

Are We There Yet?

July 31st -August 4th 
Is this map upside down?! This week at camp we will look more closely at map reading and orienteering. Campers will discover compasses, make maps, and search for buried treasure.

Flora & Fauna of the Forest

August 7th - August 11th 
Identify trees, admire flowers, wack the weeds, and outdoor adventures we’ll search high and low for signs of bear, deer, marmots, and so much more. . All this (and more) as we explore the flora and fauna in forest of Breckenridge through nature hikes and garden tours.

Camper's Choice

August 14th - August 18th 
Campers will get to choose their favorite hikes, art, games, songs, etc to do for the week. We will recap the best memories from the 2017 summer.
