Breckenridge Summer Camps

Letting kids explore the best of Colorado's mountains.

Drop the kids off for a half-day or full-day of adventures at Breckenridge Ski Resort June 10 - August 19, 2016. They'll gain valuable outdoor skills while participating in activities centered around science, nature, crafts, imagination and more! Monday - Friday, ages 5-13 welcome!

The day camp features a curriculum that focuses on science, nature, crafts and more, while teaching kids valuable outdoor skills. Full-day sessions include lunch, and camp is run by CPR and first aid-certified counselors with a 1 to 10 ratio of counselors to campers. This camp is an official Colorado licensed camp facility.

Camp Hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm
Morning activity begins at 9:00am, afternoon activity begins at 1:45pm

Check in: Check in begins at 8:00am
Early drop off: 7:30-8:00am
Afternoon Half Day Check-in: 12:15-12:30pm (lunch included)

Pick up: Between 4:15 and 5pm
All camp operations take place at the Kids Castle on Peak 8. Breckenridge Summer Camps run June 10 - August 19, 2016.

Campers will spend a good deal of time outdoors and as Colorado's weather is particularly hard to predict, we ask each camper bring the following:

BRECK SUMMER CAMP THEMES

Snow In Summer

Is that snow I see? Exploring weather in the high country. Campers will explore the reaming snow on the mountain, see the water cycle in action, and gain an understanding of weather patterns.


Golddiggers

Eureka! There’s gold in them thar hills! We will learn about Colorado Mining History through activities and games. Good Luck!


LOST!

Shipwrecked on a desert island? Plane crashed on a mountainside? Stranded in the backcountry? Together, we will learn wilderness survival skills and emergency preparedness for the worst possible scenarios. Campers will discover compasses, make maps, and search for buried treasure.


Flora & Fauna of the Forest

Identify trees, admire flowers, wack the weeds, and outdoor adventures we’ll search high and low for signs of bear, deer, marmots, and so much more. . All this (and more) as we explore the flora and fauna in forest of Breckenridge through nature hikes and garden tours.


Utes, Arapaho, Comanche, Miners and Skiers?

Since 1500, Native Americans have inhabited the plains and mountains of Colorado. Almost 20 tribes have called Colorado home at one point or another. In the summer of 1895 gold was found in what would become Breckenridge. December 16, 1961 The Breckenridge Ski Area officially opens. We will be focusing on Colorado history and heritage.

Imagine the world 10 years from now. 50 years. 100 years. What does our natural resource supply look like? In this camp we will focus on sustainability, and making sure that future generations will have water, materials, and resources.


We will Rock You

Science ROCKS! Literally. From the low-lying eastern plains, to the central peaks soaring more than 14,000 feet above sea level, to the western red-rock canyons, this week we will delve into the unique geologic history of Colorful Colorado. This week will ROCK your world.


Light My Fire & Leave No Trace

Two of the most important factors in the wilderness are food and fire. This week we will discuss some of the best foods to take into the wilderness, ways to cook the food, and best practices for what to do when you’re done eating. Highlights Include: Trail Mix, Solar Ovens, and Bear bags.

Introductions at Kids Castle

Get Moving
9:30 - 9:45am Activities to get the day started and the kiddos moving (Yoga, team building).

Fun Park
9:45 - 10:45am Activities vary by day, but include: Alpine Slide, Alpine Coaster, Bungee Trampoline, Bounce House, Tubing, Maze.

Outdoor Adventure
10:45 - 12:30pm
Hiking Adventure! Many hikes are accessed using chairlifts.

One Ski Hill Grill for Lunch
12:30 - 1:30pm
Hamburgers, Hotdogs, Mac & Cheese, Chicken Tacos, Pizza, Fruit.

Sports & Games
1:45 - 3:30pm
Theme related games / activities: Volleyball, Bowling, Kickball, Baseball, Soccer, Frolf, Capture the Flag, Ultimate Frisbee.

Exploration Stations

3:30 - 4:30pm
Activities and adventures going on in and around the Kid’s castle. Science stations, Art stations, and Active learning stations.

Indoor Activities
4:30 - 5:00pm
End of day meeting and awards. quite, creative activity i.e. nature arts and crafts, planting or storytelling.
