3rd Annual Heart Health Walk
In honor of Rob, join us June 9, 2018 to raise funds in support of heart health programs, education, and research.
Dates:
Daily: Jun 09 - Jun 09
Carter Park - Breckenridge, CO.

For Rob Millisor

Helping others was the true passion of Rob Millisor, one of the owner/developers of Breckenridge Grand Vacations (BGV). In October of 2015, Rob was on a humanitarian trip to the earthquake-stricken area of Langtang, Nepal, when he suffered a heart attack and sadly passed away. Rob was very physically fit and unaware of any health issues.

In honor of Rob, BGV Gives (BGV’s philanthropic program) will host their third annual family-friendly walk/run on June 9, 2018, to raise funds in support of heart health programs, education, and research.  Both a 5k trail route and a 1-mile town route will be offered to walk participants.  For the second year, we will be offering a 5K trail run.

Online registration closes at 10:00 PM on Thursday, June 7th.

PRE-REGISTERED participants will be entered into a drawing to win one of ten Fitbits!

With the support from Breckenridge Grand Vacations, 100% of every dollar received at this event will be contributed to The Rob Millisor Heart Health Fund at The Summit Foundation to support heart health programs, education and research.

ABOUT:

The Heart Health Walk was established in memory of Rob Millisor, one of the owner/developers of Breckenridge Grand Vacations. In October of 2015, Rob was on a humanitarian trip to the earthquake-stricken area of Langtang, Nepal when he suffered a fatal heart attack. Rob was very physically fit and unaware of any health issues. With the support from Breckenridge Grand Vacations, 100% of every dollar received at this event will be contributed to The Rob Millisor Heart Health Fund at The Summit Foundation to support heart health programs, education and research.

In 2016, more than 1,000 people and dogs participated in the Walk and more than $200,000 was raised for The Rob Millisor Heart Health Fund. Another $155,000 was raised in 2017, with all proceeds also going directly into the Heart Health Fund. Over the past two years, many heart health programs in Summit County have been supported with the event proceeds. St. Anthony Summit Medical Center now offers free, monthly heart health screening events in the community. Colorado Mountain College teaches heart-healthy cooking classes every semester and the Keystone Science School receives support for the CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Child Health) Afterschool Program. The CATCH program is designed to promote healthy physical activity and eating behaviors in children. Grants to Summit Medical Center have been used to purchase a supply of Infant CPR Anytime kits that teach lifesaving infant CPR and choking relief skills. The kits are provided free of charge to the parents of every baby born at our local hospital. An AED unit was purchased for the new Dental Clinic at the Summit Community Care Clinic and several additional AED units have been located in public areas throughout Breckenridge Grand Vacations’ resort properties. Additionally, a community-wide CPR/DEFIB Education Program through Starting Hearts for Summit County citizens was funded.
