Four Perfect Days: Family Summer Vacation

What would a summer adventure in Breckenridge be without a trip to the Peak 8 Fun Park? Experience the famous Superslide, challenge yourself on our recently-improved mini-golf course, or ride to 11,059 feet on the Colorado SuperChair for easy access to hiking, biking trails and picturesque views.

While at Peak 8, don't miss Colorado's largest human maze, Amaze'n Breckenridge. And if that's not enough high alpine adventure for you, test your skills on our climbing wall or take a leap from our newest fun park addition, the quad power jump. Before heading back to town, check out the Alpine BBQ, serving fresh summer favorites and treats daily.

Get a sitter for the tired kids and head out on the town for a fabulous Breckenridge dining experience. Try the local's favorites: Steak & Rib; the Hearthstone, famous for Colorado game; or for a more intimate setting visit the award-winning Café Alpine, located on Adams Avenue. And if you're up for nightlife, you can usually find local bands performing at Sherpa & Yeti's, or put on your dancing shoes for a trip to Cecilia's on the south end of town.

Stop by Clint's for a coffee and pastry prior to your morning excursion. Then listen to the sounds of the trail and the creak of saddle leather as you experience the splendor of the Colorado High Country by horseback. Ride through spruce forests and lush meadows. Breckenridge Stables offers up the Breckenridge Trail, 90 minutes of spectacular scenery.

Take a break from Mother Nature and paint a mountain memory on the pottery of your choice at Ready, Paint, Fire. You pick your colors and then paint, splash, doodle, dab, stamp, dribble, stencil, or dot your design on your piece.

Bring the entire family to enjoy fresh Mexican food in the cozy cantina of Mi Casa on Park Avenue. The Mango Duck Quesadilla paired with a frozen margarita is a combo you won't soon forget. On your way home, stroll the streets of Victorian Main Street and grab an enormous chocolate chip treat from Mary's Mountain Cookies.

Take the fam to Daylight Donuts for a hearty breakfast, serving up your basic eggs, hash browns, pancakes - not to mention the iced donuts with sprinkles! Then get out and enjoy the great outdoors. Breckenridge offers over 40 miles of paved bike trails, perfect for families on bikes or roller blades. Great Adventure Sports, located in the City Market shopping center, can provide you with all your gear and rental needs.

Grab a slice of pizza from Giampietro's for lunch or for a healthier alternative, try the Euro Deli located on Lincoln Avenue just steps away from Giampietro's. After an early afternoon nap, venture over to the Breckenridge Recreation Center, located just north of Main Street. Check out the two climbing walls, racquetball courts, indoor track and indoor pool. There's even a waterslide! (Parents, you can slide too.) You'll also find the local kids tearin' it up in the skate park and the waterlogged enjoying themselves in the newly developed kayak park.

In the shrimpin' business? Bubba Gump Shrimp Company has a heated deck with amazing views of the resort and a full kid's menu. After you've had your fill from the sea, mosey down to Greta's for an ice cream treat.

Breakfast at Daylight Donuts always seems to prepare one for the days activities. Check out the Daylight Special - a hearty combination of eggs, bacon & a huge pancake - all for $2.79.

A trip to Breckenridge is not complete without rafting one of Colorado's most exciting attractions, Brown's Canyon. This river trip is great for first timers and experienced rafters, and the drop pool stretch makes it fun and safe for just about everyone. It has just the right amount of exciting whitewater with scenic views of 14,000-foot peaks and granite canyon walls.

Live it up a little your last night in town! Visit Downstairs at Eric's for the best pizza around, not to mention the salads, sandwiches and rotisserie chicken. Get there early as it tends to be crowded, but there's an arcade to entertain while you wait.
